Blues and Oilers goalies submit ‘save of the playoffs’ candidates in Game 1

At one point this season, Jake Allen’s future in the St. Louis Blues net was shaky.

Allen was a part of the Blues’ struggles mid-season that eventually led to coach Ken Hitchcock’s firing. The young netminder and his team turned things around and made the playoffs, though.

And good thing, too, because we got to watch this sequence.

That’s Allen making three saves against the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday in Game 1 of the Western Conference quarterfinals. St. Louis only led by one goal at that point.

So, yeah, congratulations to Jake Allen for locking down St. Louis’s starting job and creating the first “save of the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs” contender.

Update: Nevermind, this one by Cam Talbot minutes later in Edmonton is better.

Slow down, guys. Yeesh.
